We collect several types of information when you use our Services. Some is provided directly by you, and some is collected automatically or via third-party tools. We may also receive, derive, or append additional information about you from trusted third-party service providers that support our operations, such as for data validation, analytics, audience measurement, marketing insights, fraud prevention, and campaign effectiveness, consistent with applicable law.

By continuing to use LancasterFarming.com, LFDigitalMedia.com or any Steinman Communications site without changing your browser settings, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this Privacy Policy.

You can adjust your cookie preferences by changing your browser settings to refuse or delete cookies. Please note that some site features may not function properly if you disable cookies.

A. Information You Provide Directly

When you interact with us — for example, by registering for an account, subscribing to newsletters, purchasing a subscription, entering a contest or sweepstakes, filling out a survey, providing feedback, or contacting customer service — you may provide:

  • Full name
  • Mailing address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Demographic information (age, ZIP code, interests)
  • Login credentials (username / password)
  • Payment information (processed via secure third-party processors)
  • Other information you choose to supply (e.g. survey responses)

If you choose to provide such information, we treat it as voluntarily submitted.

Some of this information is “personal data.” Personal data is information that identifies, relates to, or describes, directly or indirectly, you as an individual, such as your name, email address, telephone number, home address, or payment information (for example, account information such as name, postal address, and email address). Some of the information may be considered sensitive data under certain laws. If required under applicable law, we will collect and process sensitive personal data only with your consent. • Transaction history (e.g. subscription activity)
  • Log files, error reports, crash data

Some of this information is collected using cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, local storage, and other tracking technologies. If we combine or connect non-personal statistical or technical data with personal data so that it directly or indirectly identifies an individual, we treat the combined information as personal information. To the extent any of these automated technologies are considered a personal data sale, targeted advertising, or profiling, under applicable laws, depending on where you live, you may opt out from use of these automated technologies for such uses as described above or by contacting us directly with your request. Please note that some Services features may be unavailable as a result.

C. E-Edition / Tecnavia & Analytics Data

For users of our digital edition (E-Edition) powered by Tecnavia:

  • Tecnavia collects information necessary to provide, display, and manage the E-Edition (e.g. viewer session data, page views, device, user engagement).
  • We (and Tecnavia) may integrate with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) including optional features such as Google Signals and User-Provided Data Collection (UPDC).
    • Google Signals: For users signed into Google with Ads Personalization enabled, Google may associate viewing behavior with their Google account, allowing aggregated demographic and interest reporting.
    • User-Provided Data Collection: Voluntary data you provide (e.g. subscription or registration information) may be associated with analytics data to improve reporting and segmentation.
  • We may also enable additional demographic/interest signals (if you opt in) to enhance insights.
  • Any such usage is done under Google’s data use guidelines and only after you have given consent (see Section 4).

Tecnavia acts as a service provider; data collected via the E-Edition is used only for operational, analytics, and improvement purposes, and is subject to our agreements and this Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We process and use your data for the following purposes:

  • To operate, maintain, and improve our Services
  • To authenticate you as a registered user
  • To fulfill your requests (e.g. subscriptions, newsletter delivery, customer support)
  • To send administrative communications, such as billing, renewal, or policy updates
  • To deliver content, offerings, or advertising tailored to your interests (including via Meta Pixel / Google advertising)
  • To analyze and understand site usage and user behavior, including through aggregated or anonymized data
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security incidents
  • To comply with legal requirements, enforce our rights, and respond to valid requests
  • To aggregate and de-identify data, which may be shared with third parties without personal identifiers

We will use information only in ways consistent with the original purpose or those reasonably related, unless you consent otherwise. The usage information we collect, whether connected to your personal data or not, helps us improve our Services and deliver a better and more personalized experience by enabling us to:

  • Estimate our audience sizes and usage patterns.
  • Store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize the Services according to your individual needs and interests.
  • Speed up your searches.
  • Recognize you when you return to our Services.

We may also use your information to contact you about other services that may be of interest to you. If you do not want us to use your information in this way, please adjust your user preferences in your account profile.

3. Tracking, Advertising, and Third-Party Tools

This section describes how we (and third parties) use tracking technologies and advertising tools, and how your data may be shared.

A. Meta Pixel and Related Advertising Tools

We use Meta Pixel (Facebook / Meta Platforms, Inc.) to collect behavioral event data (e.g. page views, conversions, custom events) for ad targeting, optimization, and measurement:

  • The data collected (e.g. events, anonymized identifiers) is shared with Meta to facilitate interest-based advertising.
  • We do not send sensitive personal data (e.g. health, financial) via the Pixel.
  • If you opt out, we will block or disable the Pixel to prevent further data collection.
  • For California users, we will enable Meta’s Limited Data Use (LDU) mode to restrict processing under CCPA/CPRA.

B. Google Analytics (GA4), Signals, and UPDC

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how users interact with our Services:

  • GA4 collects anonymized or pseudonymized data (IP address, session metrics, device data).
  • If Google Signals is enabled, users signed into Google with Ads Personalization may have their data associated with Google’s interest/demographic signals (in aggregated form).
  • If UPDC (User-Provided Data Collection) is enabled, data you voluntarily submit could be tied to analytics data for more precise understanding.
  • We do not use Google Analytics data to identify or profile individual users without explicit consent.
  • You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or via our consent management tool.

Tecnavia may also help collect analytics for the E-Edition; any such data processing is subject to our service agreement.

C. Cookies, Local Storage, and Other Trackers

We use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and similar technologies to:

  • Recognize you when you return
  • Remember preferences and settings
  • Sequence ads and avoid showing the same ad multiple times
  • Measure ad reach and performance
  • Support site functionality (e.g., login persistence)

We distinguish between:

  • Essential / strictly necessary cookies (e.g., login, session)
  • Performance / analytics cookies (for site usage and reporting)
  • Advertising / targeting cookies (for personalized ads)

You can manage or block non-essential cookies by adjusting your browser settings to refuse or delete cookies. Please note that some features of our Services may not work properly if you disable cookies. We may implement a cookie consent banner to give you other ways to manage your preferences. To the extent any of these automated technologies are considered a personal data sale, targeted advertising, or profiling, under applicable laws, depending on where you live, you may opt out from use of these automated technologies for such uses as described above or by contacting us directly with your request. Please note that some Services features may be unavailable as a result.
